FENWICKS MARINA 2009 MARINA OF THE YEAR (Category II under 85 berths) Hawkesbury marina voted best in Australia by peak industry body Fenwicks Marina on the Hawkesbury River at Brooklyn has received the prestigious 2009 Marina of the Year Award, in the under 85 berths category. This national award is conducted by the Marina Industry Association of Australia. Fenwicks was recognised for its "continual improvements in environmental practices", such as regular water quality testing as part of the Streamwatch Program, as well as its level of support and participation in the local community. �It is the enthusiastic response in which Fenwicks� service their clientele and the presentation of the Marina that makes it a credit to Andrew and his team,� Tom Chapman, one of the judges, said. This year the competition was strong with the most entries ever received. �We are very proud of our achievement,� Andrew Fenwick said, �this is an Australia wide competition and we were up against many multi national companies and high profile power boat and sailing clubs, so for a business in the small community of Brooklyn to win such a prestigious award is very satisfying,� Andrew said. Fenwicks Marina, is a family owned business and one that has operated from Brooklyn for over 20 years. The family�s association with the marine industry dates back to 1870 when brothers John & Thomas Fenwick commenced the first marine towing service in Port Jackson. In 1985, Doug and his son Andrew commenced construction of their marina, which incorporates 55 wet berths, car parking, administration and workshops. Fenwicks provides full time employment for some 25 employees and tenants. It has a large purpose built hardstand capable of holding up to 14 vessels ranging in size from runabouts to 20-metre cruisers and catering for all facets of repair and maintenance making it a boater�s one stop shop.
